Project Story
A local developer in Hong Kong was exploring the potential acquisition of a 1960s cinema building in Yuen Long, with the intention to redevelop it into a multi-storey rental property. They asked us to study how the building could be repositioned for food and beverage use, with a viable trade mix and design direction that respected its heritage character.

What we did
We proposed keeping a small cinema on the top floor to draw visitors upward, with the rest of the building (G/F to 5/F) focused on food and beverage, supported by selected retail. The idea was to offer something younger and more distinctive than the typical high street options nearby. The proposed design drew inspiration from the original cinema’s motifs and surrounding heritage architecture to create a locally rooted concept.
