Project Story
Akara Hotel Bangkok set out to reinvent an existing city building into a boutique hotel destination that could attract both international travelers and locals. We were commissioned to lead the entire architectural and spatial transformation—including both interior and exterior design—with special emphasis on creating memorable, culturally grounded dining spaces that would elevate the guest experience and give the hotel its own identity.

What we did
We reimagined the full hotel envelope, from exterior façade to guest experience flow, anchoring it with four core food-related destinations. The rooftop bar offers skyline views above the pool and was designed for relaxed evening socializing. The all-day dining room opens onto the rooftop terrace, offering flexible layouts for buffet and à la carte service. A guest cooking school was integrated into the program as an experiential layer. The standout feature is the modern Thai restaurant and bar, inspired by everyday Thai street life—featuring textures and colors drawn from tuk-tuks, old buses, neon-lit signage, and folk iconography like the tiger. The material palette and custom details bring the city’s soul indoors without resorting to pastiche.
The Result
Akara Hotel’s dining spaces became a key part of its public image and guest experience. The Thai restaurant became a local draw, with interiors frequently photographed and shared. The rooftop and poolside areas support both daytime and evening service, while the cooking school adds a cultural and interactive layer to the stay. As a whole, the architecture and spatial design work together to tell a unified story—urban, local, and built to last.
